Pat Fava is going back to Aspen.
Nearly a year after the rider from Cedar City, Utah won the inaugural men’s Streetstyle event at the X Games, Fava has confirmed that he'll be back in December for the 2024 contest at Copper Mountain, Colorado, and that he will compete in January at X Games Aspen 2025.
Fava took home top-billing at X Games Aspen 2024 by showcasing a bag of tricks that included cab-270s, rail transfers, and giant ollies. It was against a stacked list of competitors – Zak Hale, Zeb Powell, and Luke Winkelmann just to name a few – and Fava put on a clinic.
It's been a busy couple of years. Fava landed a pro model goggle with Dang Shades, and a signature boot with ThirtyTwo. He found some Harry Potter action figures while filming his street part for the ThirtyTwo movie Bonecrusher.
Check out Fava's performance at X Games Aspen 2024 below.
Most recently, he signed on to ride with Yes Snowboards. That news was announced in September. He even took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions for us.
This interview has been edited for brevity and clarity.
How's your early season going? How have the Bone Zone laps been?
"My season has been epic and busy already, it feels illegal to be having this much fun so early on. The Bone Zone has been awesome."
So year two, you're back competing in the X Games. Are you ready to defend your street style crown?
"Man, I’m just happy to be here."
Everyone's wondering, so I've got to ask: is the bike helmet making a comeback this year? It's got to be good luck, now.
"Maybe a Ruroc this year."
Did you have any helmet brands reach out for sponsorship after that went down?
No. I was really hoping a mountain bike brand would hit me up, though. Them shits are expensive.
What did you think of the contest setup last year? There were some rumblings online that it was...inadequate, to put it nicely.
"I thought it was mad fun. I could see how the people expected a bigger set up though, it is X Games."
Should it be bigger? Or have more options for riders?
"Bigger might do the trick."
What was one big takeaway you had from last year's X Games experience?
"I was in the fkn X Games. A childhood dream come true."
Is there anything you'd change about the contest or that format, if you were in charge?
"I’d give the street style winners medals that are the same as the slope and big air medals."
Who was one rider you were excited to ride with during last year in street style?
"Zeb (Powell), as always. And Egan (Wint)."
What else have you been up to? Either on snow or off.
"Ethan Morgan is in town. We made a song last night, shit goes hard."
Anything else we need to know?
"My Venmo is @patfava."
