A massive storm is coming to the Lake Tahoe region, and Palisades Tahoe, California is celebrating by opening five days ahead of schedule.
Riders and skiers can take advantage of discounted tickets for the first few days of the season. Adults can get on the mountain for $75 from November 22 through November 27, 2024. The ticket price is in honor of the ski area’s 75th anniversary.
“We’re incredibly excited to kick off our 75th anniversary season early,” Amy Ohran, the Chief Operating Officer of Palisades Tahoe, said in a press release. “This is a testament to the dedication of our team and the spirit of these legendary mountains. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the slopes and celebrate this historic season together.”
Information surrounding which lifts and runs will be open will be announced later this week. Opening day festivities will include merch giveaways, a live DJ, and free breakfast burritos for guests.
The opening looks like it’s aligning with the perfect weather pattern. So far, there’s been 5 inches of snowfall in the past week, good enough for 25 inches on the season and a 15 inch base.
But OpenSnow is forecasting as much as 55 inches of snow through Sunday, November 24, 2024. As of 4 p.m. on Monday, there is a chance of snow all weekend, through the following Monday.
Palisades averages 400 inches of snowfall each season, and holds the longest season in the region.
Riders making a day trip out of their trip to Palisades should know that the online parking reservations won’t be required until December 7. Reservations will open at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesdays for the following weekend, and riders can jump the line by booking an advance parking reservation for $30.
Weekday parking is still free at Palisades and Alpine, with the exception of holidays.
