Kings and Queens of Corbet's will kick off on February 11 at 12 p.m. EST/ 10 a.m. MST, and Mike Bogs will be the first rider to drop.
There are 11 snowboarders in the contest between men and women. After Bogs, Vail local Windham Miller, Japan's Yuki Kadono, Gimbal God aka Spencer Whiting, Ben Poechman, Jack Wiley, and Irie Jefferson will drop for the men. The 2021 Queen Madison Blackley, four-time Olympian Sarka Pancochova, X Games gold medalist Cheryl Maas, and three-time Freeride World Tour medalist Erika Vikander will drop for the women.
The Kings & Queens of Corbet’s is an event that showcases the best skiiers and snowboarders to drop into Corbet’s Couloir at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming.
The event will be live on YouTube and Jackson Hole’s website.
The event is peer-judged: athletes get to choose who amongst themselves is the winner. Blackley was crowned the 2021 Queen, and is back for her fifth year in the competition. Pancochova finished in third place at the 2023 competition.
On the men's side, Kadono is a two-time Burton U.S. Open winner, six-time X Games medalist, and an Olympian.
This year, there will be separate categories for skiers and snowboarders. The categories are also divided by gender, but only one king and queen will be crowned in total.
The first place winner in each category will win $5,000, second place will win $3,000, and third place will win $2,000. An additional $5,000 will be awarded to the highest-scoring male and female athletes regardless of discipline. Those winners will be named queen and king.
Claire McPherson and Colby Stevenson were named the queen and king in 2023. Both skiers are back this year to defend their title.
The competition was cancelled in 2024 due to a lack of snow.
The most iconic moment in Kings and Queens history came from sit-skier Trevor Kennison launched himself in Corbet’s Couloir with the help of Travis Rice. His run took the action sports world by storm, and it immediately changed the trajectory of his career.
