You don’t have to be mean if you grew up in New England, but you do get homesick, sometimes.
Stratton Mountain and the East Street Archives have teamed up to bring back an event that pays homage to the east coast roots of snowboarding. Homesick will go down at Stratton from March 21-23, 2025. The three day event will feature snowboard legends, current pros, and regular Joes.
The lineup is stacked. Here are some of the riders who are set to be in attendance:
Eddie Wall
Callen Hwang
Alex Caccamo
Zeb Powell
Pat Moore
Todd Richards
Tina Basich
Ross Powers
Mary Walsh
Jeff Brushie
Shannon Dunn
Scott Stevens
Keir Dillon
East Street Archives is a 400+ page book by Gary Land. It’s his personal love letter to snowboarding. Land moved to Vermont in 1993 after surfing and skating in Virginia Beach. His book delivers a raw look at east coast snowboarding during the golden era of the 1990s.
The event will feature the release of a new book dubbed WITNESS. There will be a photo gallery featuring photos from the book, as well as a vintage board room and The Dawning Exhibit, which will showcase the roots of standing sideways on snow. Y
ou can get your book autographed by those in attendance, and ride demo boards as well. Of course, there will be events to ride in. Here’s the full schedule:
Friday, March 21, 2025: OG Downhill:
“Before there was a halfpipe, slopestyle or rail jams... snowboard events were all downhill,” the event page says. “Here's your chance to strap in like it's 1983 - the year Stratton first welcomed snowboarding.”
This dual slalom race features gates, rollers, and a lot of turns.
Saturday, March 22, 2025: Powers Retro Pipe
Olympic gold medalist Ross Powers is back at Stratton for the third year in a row to set the tone for his signature halfpipe event.
Sunday, March 23, 2025: Zebulon Rail Jam
A graduate of Stratton Mountain School, Powell has designed and hosted this rail jam himself.
You will need a valid pass or lift ticket in addition to registering for the event. Discounted tickets will be available day of at Guest Services for registered competitors only. Stratton is offering special lodging deals for the weekend as well. Head to their website for more on that.
