The venue at Revelstoke has doubled in size for this year’s contest. The Montana Bowl features more than 70 features, 10 entrance points, and 600 feet of new cliff space with better landings. About 1,000 spectators can now watch at the base of the venue. The venue got nearly 8” of fresh snow on Monday.
“After riding the venue last year, we spent the summer not only fine-tuning it but also doubling the size and features to accommodate both days and safely host a larger on-site crowd,” rider Dustin Craven said in a press release. “The new 30-40 features and natural terrain options that have been fine-tuned opening up so many more options for riders with better, safer landings and an overall improved course.”
Day one will feature a new format. No longer are the head-to-head elimination runs, but there are now three runs that sees riders advance to the finals. Here’s what that looks like:
Round 1: 8 riders – Top 2 advance
Round 2: 6 riders – Top 1 advances
Round 3: 5 riders – Top 1 advances.
This ensures the best riders are able to move forward, regardless of what opponent they end up going against.
