Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer, but Boyne Mountain isn’t giving up on winter just yet.
The resort closed to downhill skiers in the middle of May, but a hike park has been built on the run named Victor, and it will be reopened for riding on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2025.
“What started as a wild idea to build the Victor Glacier turned into Boyne Mountain outlasting every resort east of the Mississippi,” Boyne’s marketing director Kari Roder, told Tanda Gmiter of MLive.com. “Turns out when you pile snow 280 inches deep, people get pretty excited about skiing in shorts while their neighbors are launching boats.”
There will be as many as six new features available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be no lifts at all though, so riders better be ready to hike. “That’s just how we roll at Boyne Mountain,” Roder told MLive.
Boyne isn’t the only ski area still open. Here are some more around the U.S.

Mammoth Mountain – California
There's still no closing date set for the California resort, but as of May 8, 2025, the operations team has decided that lift-accessed riding can last until "at least" June.
Tickets are currently for sale on Mammoth's website through June 8.
Previously, the resort stated that it planned to remain open into Memorial Day weekend. Soon enough, visitors will be able to spring ride, mountain bike, and golf all at the same resort.
How long this spring fling will last can only be decided by the powers at the helm at Mammoth. In 2023, second season ended on August 6. Last year, it ended on May 27.
Arapahoe Basin – Colorado
A-Basin will be open for riding seven days a week until June 1, 2025. At the end of June 1, operations will close for several days, then reopen for June 6-8, 2025.
“Does this mean? Yes it does — As of right now, plan for June 8 as closing day for the 24/25 Winter Season!” the snow report says.
There is no beginner terrain available, and the mountain will close at 2 p.m.
Pasisades Tahoe – California
The season’s not over in Tahoe!
Palisades has four lifts running, 48 open trails and an open terrain park. Lift access runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closing day is Monday, May 26, 2025.

Arizona Snowbowl – Arizona
Closing day has been rescheduled yet again.
The Arizona Snowbowl will now end operations on Sunday, June 1, 2025. This season has been the longest in the resort’s 87 year history. It has lasted for 185 days.
“Thanks to our dedicated team, an early November opening, and strategic investments in snowmaking, we’ve delivered our longest season ever, giving people the freedom to ski,” marketing manager Angie Grubb said in a press release.
The Arizona Gondola will spin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 23-26, 2025 and May 31-June 1, 2025. Lift tickets start at $19 and include $10 in Bowl Bucks, which can be redeemed for food, drinks, retail, or rentals. Rentals are also starting at $19.
