As some ski areas are shutting down operations across the country, one mountain in the Midwest has the goal of Memorial Day Weekend in mind.

Boyne Mountain in Michigan is running its lifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until April 20, 2025.

“Post 4/20, it's all about Victor,” the snow report says.

The ski area will hope to utilize the Victor Glacier to ride into late May.

“Sitting pretty with a mind-blowing 200+ INCHES of snow! We're not just making it to May... we're eyeing Memorial Day weekend!” the report says. “Our legendary crew stacked over 30 hours of snowmaking in March, and our core terrain is packed with snow. Don't even think about storing that gear yet.”

If you’re thinking of heading to Boyne, this weekend could be a good chance to do so. Snow showers are expected Tuesday through Thursday, April 10, 2025. Then, sun is in the forecast all weekend long.

There’s more good news for regular riders of the mitten. Anyone who has a season pass from any other Michigan resort or ski area can ride at Boyne for just $25 a day. There are no blackout dates associated with that deal and $2 of each ticket will be donated to the Snow Angel Foundation.

On May 3, Boyne will host the Hemlock Open. Known to some of us as the “Utah Double”, the Hemlock Open is a two-person team competition that involves both skiing and riding, and golfing.

Each team must take two giant slalom runs on North Boyne in the morning, then play a two-person, 9-hole golf scramble in the afternoon. The winner will have their best run added together with their golf score. Those looking to participate in the open should register at Boyne’s website as soon as possible, as only 47 teams are permitted to compete. The cost is $150 per team and includes lunch. Competitors must be at least 15 years old.

The resort will also host an Easter weekend celebration from April 18 to 20, 2025. A traditional Easter brunch will be served at Stein Eriksen’s, and an Easter egg hunt will go down for all of the children later that day. There will be complimentary s’mores handed out at a bonfire on the evening of Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a family movie will be shown both of those nights at 8 p.m.
