New Hampshire’s Cannon Mountain is scheduled to open up on Black Friday, and it seems like Mother Nature heard.

The ski area in the White Mountains is forecasted to get seven inches of snow on Thursday, and another inch overnight on Friday. It’s been a slow start to the season throughout most of New England, with only six others that have had an opening day thus far.

Luckily, that’s about to change. Here are some ski areas up and down the Ice Coast that are set to open during Thanksgiving weekend.

New Hampshire

Waterville Valley
Waterville will open for the season November 30. Last week, it hosted the U.S. Snowboard team, and was home to the biggest slopestyle jump in the country. It will parlay that early season snowmaking into its opening day.

Vermont

Stratton
As of November 27, Stratton’s opening day is December 1. Snow is in the forecast for Thanksgiving Day.

Massachusetts

Wachusett
An original opening day of November 29 has been delayed. “Next week is looking great for snowmaking so we will be able to absolutely cover the mountain,” the website says.

North Carolina

Cataloochee and Sugar Mountain have been open for the season since last week. Newcomer Hatley Pointe is scheduled to open up its new lodge to the public on November 29, but no word yet on whether or not it will spin its lifts.

Beech Mountain

Beech Mountain Resort will open for the season on November 30. Single-digit temperatures are expected, so warm layers are recommend.

Appalachian Ski Mountain

The ski area outside of Boone has rescheduled its skiing and snowboarding opening day until December 3.
